Editing

So far I have uploaded the footage onto my laptop and started to edit it. After filming, I used Sony Vegas on my laptop to start a rough draft of our work. I started with the argument, so after importing Can't Stand Me Now I worked on firstly cutting out the parts we didnt need such as the actors laughing - I did this by clicking at the start of the part I didn't need, splitting the clips vby pressing S, clicking the end, splitting again, and deleting the section - and then cutting between the long shots of them both, over the shoulder shots of Georgy's face, then Joe's, over and over to the beat to make it look fast and snappy. I then added a fade to white as I thought this represented the fact that it was morning and he was waking up despite the fact that he wanted to. I also thought it signified the start of something well, whereas a fade to black makes it look like the end. I then edited together the shots of Joe getting up in the morning and found that these could be slower as the music isn't as fast. In class Dan and I edited together and discussed what we thought would be best, we then edited a few shots to make them shorter (i.e. so the camera lingers less on the cigarette packet before it's picked up), cropped people out of the background, and changed the argument slightly. We are currently up to the chorus as this will be a challenging piece to edit and we wanted to wait until we had time to devote to it properly.

  1. Maz, you are obviously working hard. you (or Dan) need to add images to all your posts. make them look as interesting (and relevant to the text) as you can. shots of work in progress always work well.
