Evaluation 4 Planning

How Did You Use New Media Technologies In The Construction, Research, Planning and Evaluation Stages?

I could again record my voice talking over a video about the technologies that I used. I could also take photographs of some of the technologies (camera, computer) include screengrabs of me using some of them (photoshop, vegas) and include icons of the different websites (blogspot, youtube). I would evaluate and discuss how I used these and how effective they all were in helping to create my products to the best level possible. I could either do this by voice or by writing about them.

Evaluation 3 Planning

What Have You Learnt From Your Audience Feedback?

For this question I intend to annotate and evaluate the feedback that I received on my work and discuss what I changed or kept depending on what the feedback was. I will also show evidence of my acting on this feedback. I could also use a prezi. This evaluation response might require more writing than the others and therefore I will use less technology for this one.

Evaluation 2 Planning

2. How Effective Is the Combination of Your Main Product and Ancillary Texts?

I will probably film this section of my evaluation. I will script and film myself discussing what I'd hoped to create with my video and ancillary tasks and the sense of branding I carried through them all. This means that I will talk about the things like union jacks, alcohol cigarettes etc that I carried through each product. These things represent both The Likely Lads and The Libertines which I think helped to make my products look professional. I will also talk about things that I'd like to change, overall effectiveness of the video, and how well they would work in a real professional world.

Evaluation Planning

1. In What Ways Does Your Media Product Use, Develop or Challenge Forms and Conventions of Real Media Products?

For this section I firstly plan to analyse some of my shots and compare these to the elements in other products that I had decided to emulate in my video. I will also speak about my research and planning and evaluate whether I have been successful in creating the genre and image in my video and ancillary products that I had planned to. I will also annotate my ancillary products and comment on the conventional forms of digipaks and posters that I have followed and those that I haven't followed exactly. I could also produce a making of video, but this is only something I will do if I have time etc. I will discuss the use of iconography such as cigarettes, union jacks etc which have been a running theme throughout all of my products and throughout The Libertines'.

Evaluation Research And Planning

My main source of inspiration came from Pete Doherty. I took the inspiration from various sources, the insert for my digipak booklet came from The Books Of Albion which is the novel of Petes life stories written in a rough notebook style. Overall the main inspiration came from existing Libertines music videos. Originally i planned to draw most of my inspiration from the 'What Became Of The Likely Lads' video.

I found out this would be really hard to do as in the Lutterworth area there is nowhere sufficient to film this type of scene as this would require mainly outside shots.

I feel the main problem for fitting our genre was trying to find a suitable actor, the majority of our friends were either too rock or too indie. After lots of consideration we chose to use Joe Cooper who we both agreed mixed the indie side, with the more rock n roll side, also he looked more mature than the majority of our friends and has a unique personality.

Evaluation: Doing an Interview?

On Wednesday lesson 3 myself and Alex Farnell who is a fellow media student have free lessons, i will ask today whether we can co-operate in making an interview, where in favour i would participate in hers. She can put on a serious face so the interview would look very realistic. I would only need a realistic location and someone to hold the camera which can easily be found and accesed. I am hoping to do this for part of my feedback element.

Preparation For Evaluation

When discussing and looking at peers blogs it is clear that i have to use as many different media elements as possible. The ones i hope to use are Video of Me/Someone else talking, A voiceover using pictures (possibly for different media elements used), A word document published using scribd (annotation) and finally a plain blog post but with in-depth illustrations.

Making Digipak

While making my digipak i am drawing over images of the band, this is relatively simple but it is hard to locate the pictures, some of the images i have taken from screenshots of our music video but others i am taking from singular pictures of the band via Facebook and then drawing over them.

Poster

To create this poster on photoshop I firstly took the original logo from the digipak so that there was a link between the two. I then put this image over a picture of distressed paper and set the layer mode to multiply so they looked similar. I added the band name in the same font as the album name, however I've been told that the words aren't big enough and don't stand out enough so I need to change this. I liked this idea at first but in comparison with other magazine advertisements and after receiving feedback it has been made clear that I need to change this a great deal in order to get good marks. I still can't get the band back for photoshoots, however I will use other photographs I have of them seperately or together to put together a more realistic magazine advertisement. This picture could be included somewhere as many adverts have an image of the CD cover in the centre of the page to draw your attention to it.

Digipak

This is my current digipak which I intend to hand in on Friday. I have been given some feedback that I intend to work on, however I've been told it's good and I'm pleased with what I have achieved despite some problems I've had to overcome. I put everything together using a template that I found online for a six panel digipak so I will print this on Friday and put it into a CD case or stick onto card and fold into a digipak. I really like this as I think the different sections of the digipak go well together and the montage gives a good view into 'life on the road'. I would like to do something similar for the poster but this would make it much less eyecatching. Overall I am very pleased with my digipak and think it looks professional enough and everything fits well together. It also shows a good range of skills.
