Back Cover Mock-Up

To create a mock up of my digipak back cover I firstly had to measure a CD case to find out the dimensions - 4.75x4.75 inches. I applied these measurements to a template and decided - for this design - to keep the background plain white. As I don't yet have any photographs to use I thought I'd keep this design minimalistic, taking inspiration from the clean back cover of The Xcerts digipak. I used Times New Roman as this was the one used on their digipak and it looks clean, simple and classy without being too complicated. I put the numbers after the song titles as I thought this looks different and adds some variety to the case. To do this I put the numbers in individual boxes in font size 9 and put them just below and next to the titles - this however meant they are not in the exact same place each time, so they look slightly messy. I used Libertines song titles but I might make up some of my own for my digipak, I just didn't have much time when creating this one. Next I put a barcode on which I took from the internet. This doesn't make the digipak look great but it's necessary, however I made it quite small and out of the way so it is barely noticable. I then put the name of the recording company that I invented underneath the barcode, the fake website for the company, and the fake website for the band. This just helped to make it look more official. I downloaded a font called All Over Again from dafont.com and created the logo for the record company, I will blog about this seperately!

After I'd created the more simplistic back cover I decided to experiment a little bit. I considered using a Union Jack with the saturation low for the background but didn't want to mess around with the simplicity of my digipak and so decided to use another font similar to but not the same as the one used for the record company logo. I really like the way that I've made some words bigger than others meaning they start and end at near the same point. This does however look a little out of place on this cover, I'd probably use this font somewhere else on the digipak were I to use this as the back cover. Overall I'm quite pleased with what I have achieved here.
