Front Covers

This front cover has several images of different things that the band like or that represent their music. Here they are all quite immature things as this was one of the band's earlier albums. This could be recreated easily by using 9 images that represent my band - cigarettes, union jacks, beer, instruments etc. The font used works well too as the colours are also very immature and stand out well on the background. The album title is the same as the band name which makes it a much simpler cover than it could have been if they had to include a seperate album title.

The colours here represent the pop style of the band really well and mean that everything contrasts well and stands out against each other. I like the way that the album title and band name are over Daryl's face meaning that you notice these first - they are more important than the lead singer. This also means you notice his suit more than anything else. The font is really nice and simple, and again we see usage of capitals on the front cover. I think that is something I will incorporate into mine.

This is an album entitled "Fast Times at Barrington High" and the photograph is of the legs of two young students. I really like the way that they have used photographs of people who aren't the band yet have still represented the songs, music, and band. If I were to use this I could have the bottom half of people drinking, smoking etc. Or of people playing instruments. I like the way the white line around the image makes the people stand out against the background. The massive typeface of the band name means it's noticable and memorable. It also looks nice and fits in with the rest of the design - it's blue and white. There's a lot of things in this I'd like to at least incorporate into my mock-ups.

I like the usage of the pill box on this front cover. The code is enigmatic which is similar to the band and much of their music, and the band name is arguably the most important thing on this cover. It's quite big and in capitals, unlike the smaller font of the album title. Images of pill bottles etc are used throughout this digipak but this one on the front is more enigmatic as you can't tell what it is at first glance. I like the way this represents the band but I don't think anything similar would work for mine. It also isn't a very nice looking cover.

I like this as it's humorous. The band's faces are covered up which creates enigma and the only time you see their faces is behind the cd, again making it private. The font is really interesting and the band name is in an elegant typeface which makes it the focal point of the cover. The album name is much smaller and in a less complex font, however the capitals mean you are still drawn to it and want to read it. I think on my own digipak I will want to use an interesting typeface, however it won't be as elegant as this as then it wouldn't fit in with the genre of my band.
