== History ==
The band originally started in 2006 when both Joe and Owain attended band practise together, they recruited bassist Jack Fox from a local ad in the newspaper. They released a sample tape which they sent into Universal Music Group but to no avail. After years of struggling into small Pubs and Clubs and slowly building there loyal fan base, and producing low budget releases whenever possible. In October 2008 they recruited Georgy Moore to accompany Joe on the microphone and James Bale on drums. they hit it big with Cant Stand Me Now.
== Styles and Influences ==
Original influences came from The Libertines but as the band developed they drew influences from The View, The Arctic Monkeys, Pete and the Pirates and The Fratellis. The Likely Lads describe themselves as indie/rock/punk. With Joe Cooper in an interview with NME "i got my first taste of real music from The Smiths, the song This Charming Man was what kept me going throughout my tough childhood and led me to go to band practise that day where i met Owain"
