
Rough Trades is an independent record label, started by Geoff Travis in 1978.
The label started from a record shop in west London, where the store grew into a record label and distribution business. It became independant from the shop in 1982 and went bankrupt in 1991. The brand we re-launched in 2000. The brand is specialised in European Pop-Punk.
Early signings include The Smiths, The Raincoats, Young Marble Giants and Scritti Politti.
More Recent signings include: The Strokes, The Libertines, Babyshambles and Belle and Sebastian
