Busted (Dan and Josh Version)
Pre Production
In preparation for filming we organised that everyone should bring in uniform or at least shirts, this was successful for the later part of filming in which students were reminded. Therefore in my production i will either have to provide the costume or remind my actor frequently. We also needed a place to film, this was originally going to be done above our school library, unfortunately we had't checked this, the room was therefore booked so we had to make a quick decision to film in one of our media classrooms which made our filming a bit darker as the room had restricted lighting, this would not be the case in my production as we will have our own lighting, so our location would not need to be limited. We storyboarded the Busted music video in small groups covering 10 seconds, this was done to be time saving, yet this led to problems as each group's storyboard was of different detail, therefore our director wasn't as accurate on each shot, the lack of detail also led to some shots being lost and not recorded. In my own production i will not be copying a video so i would not have to look at different existing shots, when i produce my own storyboard, both myself and maz will work together and produce an accurate 1 second shots storyboard.
Production
While filming we encountered some problems, such as timing. We ended up filming a lot more than we had planned too and this led to us running out of time in our lesson, this meant we had to film into valuable editing time, this will not be the case when making our final product as we will be filming in our own time therefore we can afford to over-run if necessary. The size of the location was also a problem, especially the depth of the room as we did not have enough room to film the shots at the front of the classroom when filming Josh as Charlie on the desks. To counteract this we had to move a row of tables so the same effect was maintained that was in the original video.
Post Production
I felt the editing was rushed to meet deadlines, firstly we had to keep referring to the original video and not having accurate enough storyboards, this led to clips being cut too short, leaving gaps and audio jolts. To counteract this we shortened the speed of the clips to extend their visual length. Once editing we noticed how off time the lip syncing was, in some proffesional music videos they sing the lyrics as the audio is extracted from the clip, we will use this in our final piece as it shows clear accuracy and would be a lot less noticeable to the viewers.
